Green Gold Label (GGL) is an international certification scheme that demonstrates biomass is produced sustainably. It helps buyers, regulators, and investors verify that biomass — such as wood chips, wood pellets, and palm kernel shell (PKS) — has been responsibly sourced, assessed for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and tracked throughout the supply chain from origin to end use.
GGL is currently recognised for two markets:
Japan — FIT/FIP (Feed-in Tariff
Feed-in Premium) subsidy scheme
The Netherlands — SDE++ subsidy scheme
A third module for the EU Renewable Energy Directive (EU) 2018/2001 and (EU) 2023/2413 is currently under development and awaiting approval from the European Commission.
